Morgan Hesse

Morgan Hesse is a North Carolina-based photographer working to integrate photography and sculpture. In her work, Hesse emphasizes themes of family and exploration of small-town North Carolina. Through experimental photographic processes, Hesse reconciles with the feeling of being both an outsider and an insider in her hometown in the South. Earning a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Photography, Hesse gears her studies toward capturing subtle nuances of her hometown surroundings, history, community, and landscape. Within her art, Hesse provokes her viewers to face their prior notions and understandings of the world around them.

Hesse has exhibited her work throughout the United States. Most recently, she was invited to participate in the Emerging Vision: Biennial Student Show at the Colorado Photographic Arts Center in Denver, Colorado, and has shown Those Known To Me, a solo exhibition at the Greensboro Project Space in Greensboro, North Carolina. Hesse is the recipient of the Robert Eugene Triplette Endowed Scholarship in Photography and was awarded a scholarship to attend the Society of Photographic Educators Award Conference.
